In the eyes of many, a beard signifies maturity, charm, and masculinity. Recently, the rugged appeal of stubble has gained popularity among women.
At the same time, some female friends also grow a beard, and the original white face of the black beard affects the aesthetic.
Do beards affect life expectancy?
Previously, 835 participants in a 20-year follow-up study died. Of those, 45 percent did not shave daily and 31 percent shaved once a day.
Additionally, the researchers also found that the deceased who did not shave daily were more smokers and had poorer lifestyle habits.
In the study, the professor of the Faculty of Social Medicine pointed out that most of the men who did not shave daily were unmarried, less likely to enjoy their conjugal life, and had lower hormones in their bodies.
This indirectly affects the degree of fat deposition in the arteries, with a higher chance of stroke and lower life expectancy.
In this case, the frequency of shaving affects the length of life of men? This statement is biased.
As early as 2012, researchers at the University of Bristol conducted an in-depth study on the relationship between shaving frequency and health.
After tracking 2,438 middle-aged men for 20 years, they found that those who did not shave every day had a higher mortality rate.
However, the researchers preferred to believe that the frequency of shaving had an indirect rather than a direct relationship with health.
Of these 2,438 middle-aged men, those with low shaving frequency were generally blue-collar laborers, mostly unmarried, and characterized by irregular life, and a lack of attention to image.
As age increases, these bad habits increase the rate of disease.
On the contrary, men who shave daily are more disciplined, mostly successful in their careers, pay more attention to their image, have good lifestyle habits, and have lower disease rates.
This finding can only show that shaving is a good habit and behavior, which reflects the social problem, not a medical problem, and can not become a strictly medical argument.
In other words, shaving has no direct or absolute effect on male longevity.
Women have mustaches, is it a disease?
Indeed, growing a beard is not exclusively a male attribute; some women also experience noticeable facial hair growth, including mustaches, which can contribute significantly to their personal style and expression.
There are 3 main reasons why women grow moustaches:
1. The effect of androgens: the body's androgen metabolism is abnormal, stimulating the growth of hair mother cells, resulting in an increase in the amount of hair and the appearance of "beard.
2. Drugs: If long-term use of cholecalciferol, corticosteroids, and other drugs, may cause drug-induced hirsutism.
3. Disease factors: diabetic syndrome, polycystic ovary syndrome, and other diseases may make the woman's body androgen levels rise, triggering hirsutism, and beard performance.
